Cresco Assisted Living
It’s getting cooler out and the leaves are starting to change colors, so get out and enjoy all of nature’s beauty. September has been a busy month. We started out with a Grill-out with Pat Darland on Labor Day. As always good to see him and enjoy his delicious food. Thanks, Pat! We had our monthly breakfast with Chef Kevin on Friday, September 6th. Cinnamon Roll pancakes was the feature along with the rest of the usuals. He did a cooking activity for us featuring bacon wrapped pineapple bites, waffle quesadillas, pizza waffles and to top it off, candied bacon chocolate chip cookies! Wow! All because it was International Bacon Day and National Waffle Week. Everything was yummy and the tenants really enjoy his visits.
We had Curt and Linda Gjere and Tim “The Music Man” entertain this month. We enjoy their talents as it keeps our feet tapping.
September 8-14th was “National Assisted Living Week”. We did canvas painting, made fall bookmarks and set up a yogurt/fruit bar. Also, we did a message in a bottle and mailed them to their recipients. Thursday, we had our usual Bingo followed by “Happy Hour” with beer, wine and snacks. We ended the week with a grill-out by Jessica, our director, and her family. They grilled salmon and burgers with all the fixins! Thank you, Jessica and family. The tenants and staff loved it. We had a jar full of tootsie rolls that sat on the counter all week for them to guess how many were in the jar. One lady was only off by five. She was thrilled with her gift basket she received. All in all it was a busy, fun week!
We did some culinary skills of our own. We made “Easy as Pumpkin Pie” Bread, Pumpkin Snickerdoodles and Apple Crisp. All very scrumptious!
We painted wooden pumpkins as well as real ones.
We had five Birthdays this month but the last day of the month was a special day. Alvin S. had his birthday and he turned 102!!!!Wow! Happy Birthday Alvin! Cake and Ice Cream were served in his honor.
**REMINDER** Our next monthly breakfast will be Friday, October 4th from 8-10 AM. The feature will be French Toast w/strawberry topping plus made-to-order omelets, eggs of your choice, bacon, fresh pastry, fresh fruit cup and toast, coffee and juice. Invite your family and friends. Hope to see you then!
We have many things going on in October. Our monthly breakfast, of course then since it is Community Outreach Month, we have several speakers coming in. Check our website for my activity calendar.
If anyone would like volunteer or donate to our activity department, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!! -Cindy
