February is traditionally known as the month for love and everything heart related. Fun fact – the average human heart beats over 3 billion times in a life. Heart health is important for everyone. The key message in the book Mayo Clinic Healthy Heart for Life! includes even little steps may make a big difference. A quick start to a healthier heart is to incorporate “Eat 5, Move 10, Sleep 8”. Eat 5 serving of fruits and vegetables, add at least 10 minutes of physical activity to your day, and get 8 hours of quality sleep each night (sleep needs do vary for each person). According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States.

Exercise and movement are not only good for the heart, but also our joints, muscles, emotional health, and overall well-being. Meagan (restorative nurse) and Amy (activity director) combine exercise and activities to help keep everyone moving in an enjoyable way – makes exercise less work and more fun! Be kind to your heart.

We strive to meet and exceed your expectations by providing 5-star quality care. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call or stop by my office.
