January is a long month but it is here and gone. It wasn’t too bad weatherwise, the normal snow and cold temps we are used to in Northeast Iowa. We took down all our Holiday decorations and decorated with assorted snowflakes we made. We had our monthly breakfast with Chef Kevin. The feature was blueberry pancakes. They are always a hit with the tenants! It was all delicious as usual. We looked forward to it every month.

We had entertainment by Tim “The Music Man’ and Cathy Hoffert this month. We always enjoy them both.

One Sunday afternoon, we got to watch the “Just For Kix” Tiny and Pee Wee Winter Show Preview. Such cute little dancers. They are taught and coached by Kelli Gosch of Cresco. They were fun to watch. Thanks Kelli for your patience and hard work! We ended the month with Aromotherapy Hand Massages from Dawn Wallace. They sure felt good. Thanks for coming , Dawn.

On to February…we have lots of things planned. Howard County Hospice will be coming on the 4th by doing some singing and handing out Valentine treats. The Red Hat/Red Tie ladies will be here on the 5th doing their party with the tenants. (I heard Red Velvet cake would be served).

We will be making hearts and talking about our own hearts and how to stay heart healthy!

We have a lady coming on February 11th showing off her apron collection. I believe she has 400 but will be displaying 200 of them. Now that will be something to see. It will be at 9:30 am in the dining room. The presentation is called “Remembering The Apron” by Sheila Craig. The Cresco VFW ladies will also be here serving donuts and coffee as well. So, come join us!

We will be decorating Valentine Cookies in preparation for our Valentine Party on Friday, the 14th. Curt and Linda will be playing music for us at 2:00.

Friday, February 21st will be our monthly Breakfast with Chef Kevin. This month’s feature will be Strawberry Stuffed French Toast, along with the rest of the breakfast items. Tell your family and friends!!! For $8.00 you get a fresh prepared meal. It will be served from 8-10 am. It is delicious and you won’t be disappointed.

Tuesday, Feb 25th, is “FAT TUESDAY” and Mardi Gras Party at 2:00 so we’ll be dressed in our purple/green and gold attire along with our hats and beads. Should be fun eating our King Cake which we are making on Monday. And Lent begins on Wednesday the 26th. So February looks to be a busy month.

It is Leap year so Leap Day is Feb 29th.

I will be out of the building February 6th-February 16th as Tim and I are headed to sunny Florida to visit my family. If you have any questions, please call and ask for one of the staff here.

Till next time, stay warm and Happy Valentine’s Day to all!!
