Happy New Year everyone! I hope the holidays treated you well. At Evans, the holidays brought us a lot of extra fun activities.

We started off the month by Decking the Halls! Our employees were in competition on decorating the hallways on our three wings. Our day shift employees decorated Jones hallway, evening shift decorated Peterson, night shift was responsible for Kawanis and dietary staff decorated part of the dining room. We want to thank our board members for taking the time to come in and judge the contest. It ended up day shift won first place and dietary took second place. It was great to hear all the compliments on how festive the entire building looked for the holiday season. I want our employees to know how much this was appreciated by residents and family members. Thank you for taking the time to make everyone’s holidays a little merrier around Evans!

Our building was full of the sound of Christmas music thanks to all the groups that came to carol for us. We were entertained by the Awana group, Jenny Matt, the Cub Scouts, Crestwood Preschool, Notre Dame 3rd graders and the Protivin Elementary. We appreciate all these youngsters taking the time to visit.

Our resident Christmas party was a hit. We want to thank Tim The Music Man for playing Christmas music during the party and, also, to Chef Kevin and our dietary staff for preparing the wonderful food. It was delicious and received many compliments.  Also, thank you to all the family members that celebrated with us!

Santa even surprised us with a visit when he showed up with the Howard County Community Hospice. He visited with all the residents while they enjoyed a snack and Christmas music. Santa even sang a couple songs for us before he left!

We hoping January continues to bring us mild weather as we battle through our cold and flu season.
