Activities with Amy
The Last couple months have been busy here at Evans. In March, we celebrated St Patrick’s Day with Corned Beef and Cabbage and green beer. March was also National Strawberry Month so Chef Kevin did a cooking demonstration for us with strawberry crepes, wonton cups and cookies.
In April, we enjoyed watching all the children at the Evans Annual Easter Egg Hunt and wine tasting with cheese and crackers. April was also National Grilled Cheese Month. Chef Kevin made pizza grilled cheese, BBQ chicken and pineapple grilled cheese and S’more grilled cheese for us to try.
May started off the month with the residents making big beautiful Kentucky Derby Hats. Then came Cinco De Mayo, where we enjoyed a happy hour with Margaritas and nachos. The second week in May brought us Muffins with Mom to celebrate Mother’s Day. May 13th-18th we had National Skilled Nursing Home Week. That was a fun filled week of crafts, celebrity bingo, Howard County Hospice singing, planting flowers, minute to win it games, root beer floats and bowling!
We are looking forward to a busy and fun filled Summer. The theme around the building for the month of June will be “The Great Outdoors”. For this, we will enjoy decorating the building with nature scenes and having a campfire with the residents on June 26th at 7pm.
June will bring us Father’s Day to celebrate Donuts with Dad on June 14th at 2:30. I want to invite all families to come and enjoy this social hour with us. The First Day of Summer is on June 21st.. On this day, we are using our social hour to play Paddle Wheel and have a Summer snack and cool drink. We will be visiting The Mighty Howard County Fair on June 27th at 10am. Any families wanting to help that morning, would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I want to remind everyone that we will be having Evan’s Annual Block Party on July 10th from 4pm to 6pm. Please come and join us for a great time.
