Hello Friends,

My name is Amy Murphy. You may recognize me as the Director of Nursing; however, I have recently transitioned into the role of administrator. I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and give a bit of my background.

I grew up on a family farm outside of Spillville, Iowa. I have 5 siblings, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Interestingly, there are 2 sets of twins in my family (I am not a twin). I went to South Winneshiek School throughout my elementary and high school years. While in high-school I began working in the dietary department at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa. Long-term care quickly became a passion of mine and I became a certified nurse aide. Working as a CNA became an important stepping stone for my future career. I attended NICC following high-school to pursue a nursing degree. As I furthered my education I was able to advance within the facility. I have had the opportunity to work as a charge nurse, restorative nurse, MDS/ Care plan coordinator, and assistant Director of Nursing. In 2015, I came to Evans Memorial Home as the Director of Nursing, and now I have the opportunity to work in the capacity of the administrator.

I am married to Bill Murphy and together we have three boys: Blake (18), Carson (13), and Aiden (9). I live right in Cresco, and I will say this winter has made me appreciate living and working in town. Like many of you, I am waiting for the snow to disappear, and the warm weather, green grass, and sunshine to come!

Amy Murphy, Administrator
