October has just flown by; along with all the leaves!!! It has been a cloudy/windy month but I guess that is to be expected. We had a busy month as usual. We “Boosted Our Brains” with a Spelling Bee, made fall wreaths and painted on real pumpkins. We had several speakers such as Marshall Rogne with the Howard County Veterans Affair, Lindsey with Senior Life Solutions and the RHSHC Hospice. They spoke of their services and what they can offer us in our community. We had our monthly breakfast with Chef Kevin as well as his cooking activity. He is always a big hit and we enjoy seeing him every month! We did some of our own cooking/baking. We had a Chili Cook-Off with Jean Doda, Kim Freidhof from the Evans kitchen and I. The tenants got to try each one and vote. Jean won but only by one!!! It was served with freshly baked, warm cinnamon rolls. We all enjoyed and look forward to doing another one soon. We made apple pie bites, party mix and decorated pumpkin cookies. We had Tim “The Music Man” and Casey and The Good Timers entertain. Always great toe-tapping music. Thanks to both. We will be having the Notre Dame children come on Halloween morning to trick or treat and then we will be having our Halloween Dress-up Bingo Party in the afternoon. In the evening the Trick or Treaters will be here to spook us all.

November looks to be equally busy as it starts the holiday season. Red Hat ladies will be here on the 6th. Pat Darland will be here cooking our lunch for us on Veteran’s Day. Thanks, Pat! We appreciate you doing this for us each and every time!! Larry Reis will be speaking about Plant Galls on Nov.13th. Larry comes once a month with so many interesting topics. We always look forward to him as well. Jed and Joyce Becker will be speaking on their trip to Australia and New Zealand on the 25th. And of course, the big Thanksgiving feast on the 28th. We also have Tim “The Music Man” and Curt and Linda entertaining this month.

REMINDERS****Our monthly Breakfast will be Friday, November 15th with Chef Kevin. It will be in appreciation of our Veterans. THANK YOU for your service!!!! Serving from 8:00-10:00 AM.

THANKGIVING DINNER-If you have family members joining you for lunch, we need to know by November 18th to make sure there is enough food ordered and the staff have time to accommodate everyone. Thanks in advance.

With that being said, I hope I didn’t miss anything. Check the website of the complete calendar of events.
